As of July 1, Paulien Bakker will leave her post as director of the Initiative Narrative Journalism Netherlands. The board is extremely grateful to her for the five years in which she has devoted heart and soul to promote the techniques of narrative journalism in the Netherlands.
Passionately and full of expertise, she organized five major conferences with top journalists from the United States, the Netherlands and other parts of the world, as well as numerous other activities such as the annual Gerard van Westerloo lecture, the leading group for Dutch editors, and the online yearbook ‘Meestervertellers’ which presents the top ten of the best Dutch narrative journalism productions each year. In addition, she carefully worked on creating and extending the foundations of our initiative. Bakker now wants to put the experience and knowledge that she gained during these five years into practice and fully focus on her new book on Iraq after 2003. We can only applaud this as a board. We wish her the best of luck.
